UCOL and the Arohanui Hospice have joined forces in a unique fundraising venture that involves the sale of a house built by UCOL Trades students.The 112 square metre UCOL Hospice Home will go under the hammer on Thursday 7th July. Arohanui Hospice will receive every dollar beyond the cost of building the house, with a number of sponsors giving generously to ensure costs are kept low.
The UCOL Hospice Home is being built on a site of land adjacent to the UCOL Trades facility on Amesbury Street and has been a hands-on project for a range of students since last July.
Certificate in Carpentry students prepared the site and have been involved in the construction. Diploma of Interior Design, Introduction to Joinery and Certificate in Electrical and Related Trades students have also contributed.
